Coach Greg has been married to Julie for 26 years and has three daughters and one son - Kayla (24), Lindsay (22), Rachel (20) and Luke (16). Kayla is finishing her MA degree in History at Liberty University and Lindsay is pursuing her MS degree in Forensic Science Toxicology at VCU. All of their children have been homeschooled through 12th grade by Julie.
Greg was born and raised in Western Pennsylvania (Johnstown) and was fortunate to attend a high school with a varsity boys volleyball program. Greg began playing volleyball his freshman year at Richland High School and their best finish in the state tournament was 5th place. He then attended the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown (BS in Civil Engineering) and the University of Pittsburgh (MS in Geotechnical Engineering) where he played on the club volleyball teams.

His club volleyball coaching career has spanned 4 decades beginning in 1994 with the Greater Johnstown Volleyball Club and most recently serving as a coach and board of directors member at Southeast Region Volleyball Club (SERV). His best finish at AAU indoor nationals was 9th place in 2021 and a 9th place finish at USAV Beach Nationals.
Greg is also coaching the Beach Breakers (T.E.A.C.H.) Varsity Boys Volleyball team for homeschoolers and they had their best season in 2022 - winning the Cape Henry Invitational, winning Division II at Endless Summer, and finishing in second place at the HSPN East Coast Championships.
